Sheet Music Christmas Trees

the finished product
what it starts out looking like - a pile of squares!

I have recently begun making Christmas trees out of vintage sheet music.  I am using buttons as the topper to the tree to accent it without taking attention away from the music.

well...come back.

so... I've been missing on this blog for a while.

Since the last post, things have been okay business wise, just also uber-busy in my everyday life... new job, on-the-go toddler, grad classes... it's been wild here.

This summer I actually took a break and enjoyed being home with C.W. and my husband and soaking up family-togetherness. :) :)

Now... holiday season is upon us, and so.... here we go!

Pictures coming of my newest endevor - Christmas trees made of vintage sheet music - coming soon!!

Oh, and Welcome Back.  I'm hoping you'll Come Back soon :)

Yard Sale Earnings

Well, my friend Bridget and I shared a table at an event on Saturday.

I was able to make some money ~ which is a great improvement over the last thing I did... where not a single person came by and participated... what a disaster...

Anyway, we had fun, the weather was great, and I handed out a lot of business cards!

Horray!

Card of the Week

The card this week is in a plastic bag...

because it's coming to the 'yard sale' at South Western High School on Saturday.

It's one of many sets of cards I'll have for sale there.

these are some birthday invitations I am working on to sell at an upcoming craft fair.

(more on that later!)

The invitation part is on the back of this shaped card.  They come with matching envelopes. :)

Card of the Week

my first card ever.

Made back in the day with my sister Alison and our friend Marisa, who took us to this stamping party that her mom was going to.

What a LONG time ago!

Cad of the Week

I used the stamp on the background paper, and also cut one out stamped on contrasting paper.  Using a puffy type of adhesive, the brown flower square is 'popping' off the paper.

The "feel better" is made with the cuttlebug.

Card of the Week

My son loves saying Thank-you with this sign - it's as easy as blowing a kiss!

Card of the Week

My husband went fishing this weekend since it was so nice outside!

(He wasn't fly fishing, like this card if showing, but I figured it was close enough!)

Card of the Week

Here is a birthday card that I made for an order a while back.

There are little rhinestone stickers to add a little bling. :)

Organizing...

This week's project has been to put a "copy" of the stamps in each set in the box.

Some of them were done, some weren't.

I'm tired of trying to keep a mental file of where they all go - so this will *hopefully* help!

:)

cricut

This weekend my in-laws came to visit.  My mother-in-law brought along her cricut machine, and I was able to do some St. Patrick's Day and Easter designs on it!

Look for the cards I made coming soon to "card of the week"

Saturday, February 11, 2012

Um...

Well... it was "grandparent weekend" here.

Which meant all the craft stuff I had thrown everywhere in the basement had to be cleaned up.

So... other then card of the week... there's not a lot going on to report.

But here is my post to keep up with the resolution.

Hopefully something more interesting will happen next week! :)

Card of the Week

These are packs of the "lunchbox love letters" I mentioned in my post last week.
They are for sale here and they are a set of 10 for $5.00
They are 3.5 squares with a different stamp on each.  They do not come with envelopes - just a "note" to put in a lunchbox or leave on the counter to "share the love". :)

Card of the Week *I'm cheating*

baby C.W.

big boy C.W. (I edited the photo so you can't read his name...)

So, the birthday parties for C.W. are in the past... but the thank you cards just got put in the mail today!
I don't know why, but when we received gifts for him when he was born, and then now for his birthday presents, I feel like he should be the one saying thank you.

Now, on the inside of the card, I do not write from his perspective.. because that would be weird.  BUT - twice now I have had him hold signs that say "thank you" and then I print them off and put them on the front of a card.  It makes for a simple but super cute card! :)

(I ended up using a different photo for the birthday present thank you's; the one above is an "outtake")

Hmmm... let's see...

what else can I make....???

Bridget (my Stampin Up Rep and friend) was over yesterday for a 'craft day'.

We had her cricut set up downstairs, along with my cuttlebug, and of course punches, paper, more paper, and everything else we needed to make some stuff.

We had a good time and I made some backgrounds and things for some Easter cards.  I also worked on some more Lunchbox Love Letters to start selling at the store.  :)

While the kids were napping, we crafted.  While the kids were awake, we played.

It was a fun day!

Miss E. and C.W. after our walk - it was SOOOO nice out - probably 65 degrees! :)

Party

I went to a Stampin' Up party today with my friend Bridget.

I love making cards with someone else's stuff.

I was able to use the embossing powder/heat gun thing, which I don't have here at my house.
I'm not very good at it, but it's still fun to use.

We made three cards, ate very good food, and I placed an order for a St. Patrick's day stamp.

What a fun way to spend the afternoon!
Thanks Julie!

Card of the Week

I've done it!
I've started selling cards at a little store down the street!

Now hopefully that will be a jump in the right direction... more stores in the future I hope!!
Here is something that will be for sale there tomorrow:

Valentine's day cards for school!!!

on the pink side part there are slits cut in the top and bottom to add a pencil or a lollypop.

They will be in sets of 25 plus a teacher card for Valentine's day.

Here's the link to the store: http://shareitagain.net/
(there is this huge white box at the top of the page that shows up, but if you scroll down you'll get to see the information...not sure what is up with that...??)

I've got a lot more to bring with me tomorrow to leave at the store...
but I wanted to share this one because I'm excited about Valentine's day!

Retiring this One...

one of my earliest craft projects:

While on my organizing/getting things done kick...
I was packing up the Christmas stuff (all organized, sorted)
and found this little gem.

Note the date: 1987...

that's a long time for a taped toegether construction paper box to be around.

It's been a construction paper mess 'un-box' for a few years... and it hasn't made the tree for a long time.

So I decided to take some pictures, and then throw it away.

Pictures last a lot longer.

It's been around long enough that I don't think I'll have trouble remembering it.
but just in case,
I took the pictures.

In a few more years we may have another construction paper box on our tree - this time with a little boy's face on it instead. :)

Card of the Week

Fantastic!

I love lazy Saturdays! :)

I just used gray card stock, stripped scrapbook paper, and one stamp for this easy card.

Hope your weekend is a good one so far!

Getting things done

Although most years I never make resolutions...

apparently this year I have!

I think it's because I'm not at a stressful job and have more time to think about things.
So, anyway,

Our basement living room turned into the "North Pole" in December.

Christmas gifts, cards, wrapping paper, decorations... it was a mess.
Every other year I would have just thrown it back in it's box and said "I'll organize it all next year".
Well...
I'm organizing it this year.
And I'm trying to be more purposeful about getting. things. done.
Not, oh I'll set this aside and then when I have a whole lot of time (read: never) I'll do it.

Gluing a wall hanging together.
Sewing up a new bath mat.
Framing pictures.
Making a table runner for the coffee table.

All things I thought of doing, but hadn't done.

Until this month!!

Wahoo!

On the list is still many more projects -
but hopefully I'll continue to just do the project instead of thinking about it.

In other news ~ such as card making ~
I made a contact at a store on the way to our church about selling my cards there.
I have an appointment in two weeks to show them some samples.
Valentine's Day cards, here we come! ;)

hearts... love... and it's only January! ;)

Card of the week

Well, I thought I would be showing you my Christmas thank-you cards...

but I'm not.

I'm saving that for another day.

Here is another card that I'm pretty excited about though:

The cream paper and the light pink paper are done with the cuttlebug. :)

Week one of the resolution = success!

New tools :)

I was lucky enough to receive many craft items for Christmas this year!

I got a new punch that you can place anywhere on the page - it has a magnetic base so you are not limited to just however far it goes on the edge of the paper!

I also received a Cuttlebug which is practically limitless as far as embossing and cut-outs go!  I have started a collection of accessories for it already!

I got a tiny snowflake puncher ~ which will be great for confetti - watch out!! :)

Up next this week I'll show you a picture of my Christmas thank you cards.

Happy New Year!

Resolution for the new year:

Post regularly on the blog.

By regularly I mean, two times a week.  Once to show a card I made that week, and once to share other news or events.

Here's to a better blog in 2012!!

and... no, this does not count as one post for this week ~ there will be two more coming!
